Paint

While painting, I once again feel myself pulled to creating uncomfortable art, based around unnatural skin colors and discolored faces. The portrait of the girl (above) is one of my first canvases, as I experimented with backgrounds and themes.

Within the scope of painting I still find myself experimenting with different materials, the face below (as pictured) was created using nail polish as paint. The thickness of the product was somewhat unusual during application but as I sought after a pop-art modern piece, Nail polish as a medium began to grow on me. One of my favorite things about this piece is the texture. Although it is not completely clear, the shine in the photos is clear, as the texture is glossy overall, but still not uniform due to the individual brush strokes.

With limited access to materials throughout Covid, I began to experiment with different materials to paint on. As I designed and painted, (and used) a skateboard (left), I was inspired by motifs found in classic rock as well as images seen in bands from the 90's.
